About the Aquatics Academy

A little bit about us.

Delyth Sutton Evans

Owner & Course Director

After graduating from university with a degree in design I trained as a swimming teacher, and established The Aquatic Academy in 2006. Swimming with Penarth Swimming club as a child was great fun. As an adult being part of such a professional and diverse team is rewarding, and together we have taught thousands of people to swim and have fun in the water. It’s a great job!

I'm a really active person and enjoy most sports, I teach trampolining and gymnastics, as well as working as a professional in an autistic school during the week. Swimming Teacher

Growing up on the Isle of White it was great to be part of a swimming team with my friends. I have been studying Sports conditioning Rehabilitation and Massage in Cardiff for 3 years, and swimming with the university team. It’s great to see the children progress with their technique, and become more confident in the water.

Swimming Teacher/Lifeguard

As a teenager I swam with Cheltenham swimming and Water Polo Club, and have been an active member of the university swimming and Water Polo team - recently achieved the award for top BUCS goal scorer for 2017. Life-guarding is really enjoyable and the children say the funniest things. They make me laugh.

Sophie Roberts

Swimming Teacher

Competing in swimming Nationals at 11 and British championships at 15, was a great way to be active, meet new people and develop social skills. Since becoming a teacher it's important to me to share my passion for swimming, it is a life saving skill after all. Snorkeling in the sea is a favourite way for me to relax. I'm still looking for Nemo...

This academic year I've been the team Captain for Cardiff Met University swimming team. Swimming teaching is so enjoyable and it’s great to see a child's confidence grow in the pool and as a person. I relax watching films and Shrek is one of my all-time favourites.

Danielle Stirrat

Swimming Teacher

After competing as a national swimmer I gained a full Scholarship to swim and study psychology in Louisiana, America. Swimming has given me so much and it’s really important for me to give back. Sharing my skills and knowledge with the children, and seeing their progression is why I teach. My guilty plesure is listening to Taylor Swift, singing into a hairbrush and dancing around the house.

Until the age of 13 swimming was the only sport for me. Because of the skills learned with Sheffield swimming club I have been able to join the university water polo team, and would describe myself as an all-round player. Lifeguarding is a great way to travel the world and this Summer I will be Lifeguarding in Pennsylvania, America providing a safe environment for the children to learn to swim.

Acheiving a medal in a relay race at the National championchips was a great experience. Spending my childhood in around the water, it was only a matter of time before my job was at the swimming pool. Life-guarding is a way for me to give something back, keeping the children safe and promoting water safety. In the summer I like to surf with my friends and end the day with a BBQ on the beach.

Learning to swim, I remember our teachers creating a fun environment and every lesson was so exciting. We grew up in Macedonia and spent a lot of time outdoors and in the water. I was always active, and still am playing basketball with Cardiff Met Archers. Lifeguarding is such an important role to support the swimmers safety and create a safe place for the children to have fun in their lessons.
